Refined Surface Design

What is it?

There are 2 types of polished concrete. Firstly, we have mechanically polished concrete which is a more high end finish. With this process the actual concrete itself is the finished product. This is an indoor finish only and with the proper care and maintenance can last a lifetime.

Secondly, we have a Grind & Seal which is when the concrete is ground to the desired level and then coated with a topical sealer. All sealers will degrade over time and will need maintenance according to wear and application. This can be an indoor or outdoor finish and non-slip aggregate can be applied to address slipperiness.

Environmental

All of our products we use are water based and low to zero V.O.C. As polished concrete utilises the existing slab, it cuts down on additional coverings and glues etc.

Polished concrete is reflective and will cut down on your lighting costs and energy usage
Polished concrete can also cut down on your heating and cooling costs due to its thermal mass.
Renovating your polished concrete floor merely means a quick polish, re-seal and you are done...with little to no waste!
All other flooring options will require removal of 'the old' and re-instating of 'new', adding to landfill and costing you much more money.

We engaged Angus from Refined Surface Design to do some floor rectification and concrete polishing to approximately 8000m2 at the Bunnings new warehouse at the Adelaide Airport, West Beach next to Ikea, the old Masters store.
