There are 2 types of polished concrete. Firstly, we have mechanically polished concrete which is a more high end finish. With this process the actual concrete itself is the finished product. This is an indoor finish only and with the proper care and maintenance can last a lifetime.
Secondly, we have a Grind & Seal which is when the concrete is ground to the desired level and then coated with a topical sealer. All sealers will degrade over time and will need maintenance according to wear and application. This can be an indoor or outdoor finish and non-slip aggregate can be applied to address slipperiness.
Benefits of polished concrete:

Polished concrete is comparable to most other flooring types and generally cheaper than timber floors, commercial vinyls and tiles (depending on the tiles used). Prices vary by the amount of stone exposure you wish to have - contact us for a quote.

If you are pouring a new slab, polished concrete can be tailored to your personal taste by changing the colour of the concrete matrix itself, changing the aggregate used, adding crushed glass or glow-in-the-dark aggregate, adjusting your aggregate exposure level and adjusting your gloss level.
If your slab is existing, then only the stone exposure and gloss levels can be changed.

Yes! Polished concrete does not support mould growth or dust mites and as it is a hard surface, it's easy to clean so minimises dust and pollen levels in your house.
Great for sufferers of allergies and asthma.
Also, if your needs are movement related, polished concrete offers a seamless floor perfect for wheelchairs and walking frames.
Polished concrete is no more slippery than tiles.
Polished concrete can be cleaned with a pH neutral cleaner. Acidic or alkaline cleaners can damage your floor. For dry cleaning use a microfiber mop

All of our products we use are water based and low to zero V.O.C. As polished concrete utilises the existing slab, it cuts down on additional coverings and glues etc.

We engaged Angus from Refined Surface Design to do some floor rectification and concrete polishing to approximately 8000m2 at the Bunnings new warehouse at the Adelaide Airport, West Beach next to Ikea, the old Masters store. Angus fulfilled this requirement with ease, professionalism and a total commitment to the job at hand. Although this job ran over a high number of days and also included nights, Angus and his team were up to the task. The job was finished on time and within budget.
